4th World Congress on Disaster Management (WDCM) at IIT-Bombay, India from Jan 29 to Feb 01, 2019.

I have attended the 4th World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT- Bombay), India from January 29 to February 01, 2019 where I presented my paper titled 'Modelling the outburst flood from Lhonak Glacial Lake of Sikkim Himalaya for GLOF risk assessment using GIS and HEC-RAS' under the theme of Resilience and Disaster Risk Management.

This four days World Congress on Disaster Management was the largest conference in the Asian region on disaster management which is organised in every two years. This time it was jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Disaster Management Initiatives and Converengence Society (DMICS), Tata Institute of Scoial Sciences (TISS) and the Government of Maharastra. The event was inaugurated by the honourable Chief Minister (CM) of Maharastra Sri Devendra Fadnavis. Unicef was the main sponsoring agency of this conference.

More than 500 hundreds of research papers were presented which covered more or less every aspect of disaster management and action planning during any type of natural hazards. A number of plenary sessions were organised where the eminent scholars and experts from industries showcased their achievements and preparations for dealing with any kind of natural or manmade disasters. I had my presentation on the first day and after which I have attended plenary sessions and listened to other presentations and was benefitted. It was an excellent opportunity to expand the horizon of the network as scholars and world leaders gathered to discuss and find sustainable solutions for disaster management using multi-disciplinary approaches.

As this was my first visit to Mumbai, so I didn't miss the opportunity to visit the historical monuments and places including the Gateway of India, Taj Hotel, Marine Drive, Wankhede Stadium and many more place. Some of the captured moments and places have been shared below.
